IEEE has many awards, ranging from prizes for technical achievement to recognition of service to IEEE. The Information Theory Society has many distinguished members and it seems to us that many of them would be strong candidates for IEEE awards. In the past, when the Society has submitted completed nominations, it has been quite successful. We are writing you to solicit your help in identifying candidates and, equally importantly, helping us find people who know the candidates and their work, so that nomination forms can be completed in a substantial way.
Below you will find a list of awards with a short description and recent winners. All of the awards listed have a NOMINATION DEADLINE of JULY 1, 1996. Please send us any suggestions you may have. - Sergio Verdú (verdu@Princeton.EDU)
