"Information Theory and Combinatorics"
2nd INTAS Meeting
April 9-11, 1997 Essen, Germany.

The IEEE German chapter on Information Theory and the participants in the EU-INTAS project "Information Theory and Combinatorics" organized the 2nd INTAS meeting in the beautiful, quiet, southern area of Essen, Germany. The purpose of the project is to stimulate the cooperation between European and Armenian scientists. Within this INTAS project a special effort is made to support young researchers from Armenia are supported. The general idea of INTAS is to give financial support to groups of scientists from former Soviet countries, to allow them perform research in their own country. Within this INTAS project the cooperating group leaders are Gurgen Khachatrian (Armenia, Yerivan), Luisa Gargano (Salerno, Italy), Rudi Ahlswede (Bielefeld, Germany), Henk van Tilborg (Eindhoven, the Netherlands) and Han Vinck (Essen, Germany). The meeting started on Wednesday and ended Friday after lunch. It contained the following lectures in the area of coding, cryptography and general combinatorial problems in information theory.
