The Board of Governors of the Information Theory Society is seeking proposals from individuals or groups interested in organizing an IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory in North America sometime in late 2001 or early 2002.
The current ISIT schedule calls for symposia to be held twice every three years, alternating between North American sites and elsewhere. The next two symposia are: * August 1998 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. * June 2000 in Sorrento, Italy. The next open symposium is therefore to be held in North America in late 2001 or early 2002.
Interested parties are encouraged to contact Tom Fuja for details -- telephone 301-405-3645 or e-mail fuja@eng.umd.edu.
The Society's Web site has a new URL that should last at least until 2048:
