Postdoc positions on Information Theory/Coding and DNA Storage
Postdoctoral researcher positions in coding and information theory are available at Bilkent University for an ERC-funded project: TRANCIDS. Full-time, benefits-eligible positions, with highly competitive salaries.

Prof. Tolga M. Duman at the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, invites applications for multiple postdoctoral scholar positions for a European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant entitled “TRANCIDS: Transmission over Channels with Insertions and Deletions.” Selected candidates will work on determining the ultimate limits of communication for different insertion/deletion channel models, including DNA storage channels, and developing practical channel coding solutions. Successful candidates must have a strong background in information theory and channel coding. Background on communication theory in general, optimization, and deep learning is also desirable.

Applications will be reviewed starting February 1, 2024, and continue until the positions are filled.  The positions will begin shortly after. The initial appointment will be for one or two years, with a possibility of extension for up to three more years. The salary is highly competitive and includes full benefits, national public health insurance, and private health insurance for the candidate and his/her family. Highly subsidized and fully furnished on-campus housing will also be provided.
