The University of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia is offering multiple full PhD scholarships to both domestic and international applicants.

Applicants who are interested in conducting research in the area of

  • network information theory, with a focus on wireless relay communications, may contact Dr Lawrence Ong ([email protected] | http://www.lawrenceong.com)

to be their potential supervisor.

Interested applicants are to email the following materials, one month before the closing date (see below), to Dr Ong or A/Prof Johnson:

 

  1. A cover letter indicating the applicant's research interests
  2. Curriculum vitae
  3. List of publications (if any)
  4. Academic transcript
  5. Theses (bachelor's degree and/or master's degree)
  6. Evidence that you are able to satisfy the University of Newcastle's English Language proficiency policy (\href{http://www.newcastle.edu.au/policy/000104.html}{http://www.newcastle.edu.au/policy/000104.html})

 

The applicant is expected to have good knowledge in digital communications, a strong foundation in mathematics.


The scholarship meets the full tuition fees and provides a tax-free living allowance of AUD 24,653 per annum (2013 rate, indexed annually). All University of Newcastle students have access to a minimum of AUD 1,500 per annum for research-related expenses and are issued a new laptop on their commencement. In addition, the scholarship may include relocation allowance, establishment allowance, and overseas student health cover.
