Postdoc position in machine learning over wireless networks
Join Prof. Durisi's team at Chalmers (Gothenburg, Sweden) as a postdoc, to work on an exciting 2-year project at the intersection of communication theory and machine learning.

As an ever increasing amount of data is generated in the "connected world" enabled by wireless networks, the development of machine-learning algorithms targeting wireless networks becomes critical. Furthermore, machine-learning algorithms may radically improve the design and the management of such networks.

The selected candidate, who will be jointly supervised by Prof. Giuseppe Durisi and Assist. Prof. Christian Häger at the Department of Electrical Engineering, will be part of a large network of junior and senior researchers at Chalmers, Gothenburg University, and KTH performing state-of-the-art research in machine learning for/over wireless networks.

Project description
The Postdoctoral position is funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) as part of the research project SAICOM, which aims at breaking new scientific ground in the subject of software, wireless networks, and artificial intelligence. More information about the project can be found here.

Major responsibilities
You will conduct cutting-edge research in the area of machine learning for/over wireless networks, and disseminate it in top-tier journals and conferences. You will have the freedom to independently formulate and solve research problems in line with the work envisioned within the SAICOM project and to establish novel collaborations with the project partners. You will also be involved in the supervision of Ph.D. and M.Sc. students. Depending on your preferences, you may also take part in teaching activities. The position is meritorious for future roles within academia and industry.

Qualifications
Mandatory:
- Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or similar, awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline (according to the current agreement with the Swedish Agency for Government Employers). Exceptions from the 3-year limit can be made for longer periods resulting from parental leave, sick leave or military service.
- Strong track record demonstrated by publications in top-tier journals and international conferences
- Openness, creativity, and independence

Desirable:
- Experience with wireless communication networks
- Knowledge of information theory and/or statistical learning theory
- Experience with python machine-learning libraries
