Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Error Correction Coding
A 2-year full time Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in Error Correction Coding is available at The University of Newcastle, Australia. Salary $108,382 AU plus 17% superannuation.

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow specializing in error correction coding, contributing to research and professional activities in The University of Newcastle, Australia. The position offers the opportunity to conduct research on an Australian Research Council (ARC) funded project to develop capacity approaching rateless error correction codes. This will include the design and implementation of new codes and new decoding algorithms.

The successful applicant will:

  • Design new capacity-approaching rateless codes, which operate in very high noise channels, to ensure optimal reconciliation efficiencies in continuous variable quantum key distribution.
  • Design new decoding algorithms for rateless codes to reduce decoding complexity without significantly reducing the decoding performance.
  • Design short-length rateless codes which approach the finite length performance bounds for error correction coding with achievable decoding complexity.
