The Opportunity

The Faculty of Engineering is one of the largest faculties in Australia and we are renowned globally for the quality and calibre of our teaching, research and graduates. The Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering aims to provide high-quality research programs for undergraduate and research students as well as undertaking and publishing high-quality research.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team of friendly and hardworking academics, contributing to research initiatives globally. The Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering is seeking a Research Fellow to become an integral part of the Wireless Telecommunications team. You will be responsible for carrying out high-quality inter-dependent research within University based and Industry based projects shaping machine learning as a communication theory problem.

To be successful in this role, you will preferably have a PhD (or working towards your PhD) in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science with expertise in Information Theory or Machine Learning. You must have the knowledge and experience in applying information theory and/or machine learning to communication systems. Your ability to work with a team and by yourself with limited supervision will be highly regarded, as will your strong analytical and presentation skills.
