The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada, invites applications  for a Tenure-track faculty position in Mathematics and Engineering and Applied Mathematics at the rank of Assistant Professor with a  starting date of July 1, 2019.  

Candidates with expertise in 

Mathematics of Machine Learning, Data Sciences, Statistical Learning, and Information Theoretic Methods in Learning and Data Science

are strongly encouraged to apply, though outstanding candidates in all areas of mathematical engineering will be considered.

In Mathematics and Engineering, there are presently prominent research groups in Geometric Mechanics, Control Theory, and Information and Communication Theory. The Mathematics and Engineering Program, and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at large, offer an excellent environment for research and teaching with very high standards and a collaborative environment. A successful candidate will be expected to work in any of these or complementary research areas, and to contribute to both the graduate and undergraduate programs.  Candidates must have a PhD (or an equivalent degree) in Mathematics, in Engineering, in Statistics, or in a related area, completed by the start date of the appointment.  Eligibility to obtain a license as a Professional Engineer is a strong asset.
